Double GlazingCanberra
How Green?

The obvious goal is to reduce your home’s carbon foot-print; the amount of energy a household uses throughout the year determines the size of that foot-print.

Reducing your carbon-foot print means less green-house gases are produced, less energy is consumed; it’s good for our planet… and saves you money.

For the winter months, All Seasons Thermal Window’s double-glaze system has been given a 5 & 1/2 star rating for heating improvement on existing timber windows, and 5-star rating for heating improvement on existing aluminium-sliding windows, resulting in a reduction of heating needs of 55% and 51% respectively.

For the summer months, All Seasons Thermal Window’s double-glazing system has been given a cooling-star improvement rating of 3 & 1/2-star on existing timber and a cooling-star improvement rating of 3-star on existing aluminium-sliding windows, resulting in a reduction of cooling needs of 42% and 34% respectively.
According to the ACTSmart Energy Saving Guide PDF, Page 6, adapted from Energy Use in the Australian Residential Sector 1986–2020, the average energy use of a Canberra household is as follows;

Average energy usage of a Canberra household

  • waterheating

    17%

  • electricalappliances

  • spacecooling

* Electrical appliances include lighting, refrigerators, standby and all other household appliances

Almost 60% of energy consumption is
just for Space Heating!

Now, if your house has only 3mm single-glazing, it is safe to say a lot of your heating is being lost out the windows. So if a household’s yearly energy bills total $2000 for the year, 58% of that, $1160, is solely for Space Heating.

Installing our retrofit double-glaze system to the rooms that you heat, according to our WERS Customs Ratings, results in a reduction in heating needs of 55% on timber windows, or 51% on aluminium sliding-windows. So if you’re spending approximately $1160 on Space Heating in a year, a 50% reduction in heating needs is worth approximately $580 saving on the Space Heating component of your energy bills.

These results represent considerable reduction of your home’s carbon foot-print. Now that’s pretty Green!

The ACT Government is leading Australia’s push for reducing the reliance on earth-damaging fossil fuels. The ACT Government has contractual arrangements in place that assures fading out fossil-fuels by 2020 in the ACT. A great achievement!

To take it to the next level would be to ensure that ACT homes are all capable of retaining both the heating and the cooling, that the heaters and appliances are producing inside the homes by way of the renewable fuels.

It just makes sense that whatever we want to heat, or cool, for prolonged periods of time, is well insulated. In most cases, it is the inefficient 3mm single glazed windows that allow most of your heating or cooling to escape, literally out the window.

Our retrofit double-glaze system is the most competitively priced fenestration product that can arrest these thermal losses.

Also, all of our timber is supplied by Porta Australia. Porta is committed to the use of timbers from environmentally sustainable resources.
